ChaseCam G-Force Module for the PDR100
The ChaseCam G-Force Module for the PDR100 solid state digital video recorder is a new hardware integration feature that allows for truly simple and intuitive on-screen lateral-g and acceleration/braking-g force text and color graphics. Installed internally, there are no additional boxes or cables to clutter your racecar. We have designed the G-Force Module to not require specific mounting locations or orientations—just quickly set the calibration feature based on your existing PDR100 mounting location, which also allows for quick installs in multiple cars.
Features:
Internal installation—no external boxes/wires/power/headache.
Realtime overlay—no need for tedious synching and post-production editing.
3-axis accelerometer can be calibrated instantly to any mounting orientation and is resettable.
Data sampled once per video frame (25-30fps)
3-g selectable graphic scale
Color data graphs and text that are positionable (top/bottom) on-screen
Red/Up= Braking
Green/Down = Acceleration

I personally am very fond of the very high camera angle - if not roof, then at the very top of the header panel, by the rearview mirror. The higher you get, the more chance you have to see position of the car on the track (see my vids on youtube, search on "924RACR" - that's a roof camera position).

Outside of the car would be the best bet for getting a clear picture of the track. Depending on where the camera is inside teh car the camera will pick up the light reading of either inside the car or outside and you can occasionally get a really dark car and good outside or really good car and way too bright outside.

Yep,
You can get an add on that will give you picture in picture ability. Shoot one at the driver/rearward adn the other for normal forward view. The camera works great in low light but like any lens it has trouble with two different levels of light.

I attach my forward camera to to top front bar of the cage and get the view from about the level of the rear view mirror. I often mount a rear facing camera to the rear of the cage (I have an SS1000 to do PIP). Do not mount the PDR in the rear passenger seat area as the sound will suck. Mount the PDR up near the dash on the front passenger area.
Some examples from my races are here. I've bumped the dip switches for the orientation of the rear camera (mirror or not) more than once. If you use an SS1000, record the proper dip switch settings and verify they are correct at the start of the day. Some of the videos have the Traqmate data overlayed, which is a really nice option.
