I have a Pace Pursuit 28' (10k). Get at least a 24', you'll be glad. I am very impressed with Pace quality, and the parts people are great to deal with. Get the Torsion axles, they are super smooth over driveways and entryways. Good advice on the winch. If you want lighting/electrical, get all that done by the factory, everything else can be easily added.

Another winch fan, the fewer openings in a trailer the better. Simple procedure pull car to ramp connect cable and push switch. It takes me about 5 min to load.

Quick question/hijack:

What do you attach the winch to on the front? The tow hook is off centre and I would imagine the car not being pulled straight up the ramp.

Marc:

not an issue, I positioned winch cable on center line and the car majically makes it up and in with just a few minor stearing corrections.

Purachase a used trailex for around 10k. Side door doubles as an awning, and the car door operates no problem. A bit small if you want to carry lots of crap, but otherwise works great.
My 2cents.

The guys at the shop that works on my car moan when people don't use a winch to load the car. Racing clutches aren't made for slipping or ramps.

John 10-4 on that I was at Sebring and was watching a 996-cup pull into a trailer, when he dropped the clutch the 2x6 planks he was using to get on the lift gate shot out the rear of the car.

Lesson learned DO NOT stand behind a car when it is driving into a trailer. Those boards could have easily broken bones or worse.

I am +1 for the winch. I did not and would not on my next trailer get an escape door. I want the rigidity, and it is of no use with many cars.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do...tow safely

I'm going to look at a 20' Pace Rallye, and the 24' featherlite tomorrow. We'll see how it goes!

I have a 24' Pace with no side door and no winch. I load the car with 1/2" plywood under the left side wheels (the same plywood pieces I use in the paddock under the jackstands) which allows the doors to open above the wheel wells. I have no problems getting in and out of the car.

I ended up getting the 24' featherlite! It's a used '06 that looks like new, and it has the factory 6' ramps, Al floor, stone guard. Other than that, it's empty, so I'm going to use it as is for now, while I start planning on how I want to end up with it outfitted. I have a lot of pictures of Christian's old featherlite which is somewhat of a master template for me. These are the things I'd like to have, and somewhat in order.

Tie downs points for stuff - A or E track
tire rack - favorite so far is beams over the hood
front counter top, and tool chest
fuel jug holder
jack/jack stand holder
winch
awning
pit pal holders
wire for possible AC

Any suggestions are welcome!
