Default What is the best way to ship gearbox?

Hi guys,
What is the best way to ship gearbox from Ohio to Chicago? Any suggestions?

Buy one of those Rubbermaid type plastic containers with a lid. (I forget the size but you can figure it out)

Wrap it with the clear plastic wrap and put a label on it. Keeps any oil inside and protects the outside. Of course you will want to wrap it in bubble wrap or the like before putting it in the container.

I was about to ship mine a while ago and was told to strap it in a large metal cooler.

If you're sending it through a trucking company, just strap it to a crate & shrink wrap it. That's what I did & it worked fine. For the second trans, my guy purpose-built a box which worked great.

2 ways - strap to a pallet or crate it up in a wooden crate. Although more expensive - I highly recommend crating.

Got mine from Copans strapped to a pallet with a box over the top of it and padding where strapping was.
