Buy one of those Rubbermaid type plastic containers with a lid. (I forget the size but you can figure it out)
Wrap it with the clear plastic wrap and put a label on it. Keeps any oil inside and protects the outside. Of course you will want to wrap it in bubble wrap or the like before putting it in the container.

If you're sending it through a trucking company, just strap it to a crate & shrink wrap it. That's what I did & it worked fine. For the second trans, my guy purpose-built a box which worked great.
