I can really learn how to drive as opposed to be "saved" or controlled by the computer.....
On the other hand, if I screw up, well, everyone will know, especially if the tow truck comes out........(Not happened yet, and hope it never will)....

Are any of these required to make you a decent driver?
Maybe -- If you start with no aids and put yourself into a wall and never return, then...
Are any of these aids giving the novice student and the more advanced student alike, a false sense of security?
Maybe -- Did not have that effect on me, nor anyone I know.
Does a track car without any such aids require a more skilled driver in order to be competitive (keep up) with track cars with some/all of such aids?
Maybe -- I don't see having DSC in my BMW or PSM in my Porsche as having any impact whatsoever in my skill development. Whether it was turning 1:20 laps when I started at Lime Rock, or turning 1:02 laps now with my stock 997s. In all events, DSC / PSM remained on and did not kick on. Why? I was smooth and drove the car to it's maximum potential. Go beyond the limit, and that's when there's interference. I see some guys go out there and overdrive their car so they turn off -- and then later in the day I've seen their cars coming out on a flatbed. Maybe because they turned off, but more likely because they were overdriving and thought they were better than they were.
A good driver will do well in whatever you put them on the track in. A Trabant, a Smart, a 964, or a 997S with PSM.

More thruthfully, there is always something more to learn; it sure is differnt, though, when you have a student that needs input on every part of the course compared with those that only need a 'well, we could take turn x a bit earlier and see how that works.'
Lordy, I miss the track already. Just got my 2008 tires mounted.

As you well know, when they drive as well as you do, I just shut up and enjoy the ride.
