Yeah, it seems to me that anyone looking at HANS devices could easily see this is fake - it's black painted plastic or fiberglass, not carbon fiber, and the grip of the shoulder area is not the same - it's quite evidently fake, so I hope nobody is falling for it and putting their lives at risk.

My guess is that they were made to go along with and under the fake F1 helmets that some people like. Perhaps a copy writer got a little too frisky with the addvert.
i can't see anyone getting away for any amount of time making and selling poorly made copies as the real deal. I would also guess that the primary purchasers of real H&N are people that race or DE, not just want to look like they do. They are not passenger side A pillar fire bottles. Dead on match at a steal, Sad to say but I bet there are would be enough people willing to suspend disbelief in order to get a deal.

I actually sent a question to the seller as if I wanted to buy one. So we will see if they answer. As far as I can see Ebay is not stopping the action, so not sure what action they are taking.
One was actually sold, its under purchases.
I will keep you updated.

American sanctioning bodies didn't like the idea of an FIA monopoly product, so they figured SFI was the lesser of two evils. That same thinking is behind RSI certification.
Did I mention how much I hate SFI?

Yikes! It looks like the "replica helmets" have no safety certs or anything. (Although the auction says, "can be worn for karting, on the road or for exhibition.")
What they can't make in china...

At national karting events, all safety equipment (suit, neck brace, helmet, etc) is presented to scrutineering along with the kart.

Lewis, we will check helmets but NOT the HANS devices as most people coming through tech don't have their HANS attached to their helmet first thing.
