First observation: no full roll cage.

I know of someone else tht looked at this car. Apparently had JE pistons, which are not legal for a stock class.

So the combination of your two replies points to not being PCA race legal because it is not stock, and beyond stock requires a cage?

I am not that familiar with racing rules. I am primarily interested in a dedicated track car for DEs.

Looks like it would make a good track car if it PPI's out ok and you can get it for around/under $20K.

For a DE car it looks like it will be fun. Like Gary said <$20k. You could race this car but I bet there is a good bit of sorting to be done.

You would be wise to budget $3500 for a full welded cage right off the bat plus maybe $5k for incidentals.

It looks like car + trailer under $20k could make for a fun DE's. I'd like to try racing in a couple of years, but I can cross that bridge when I get there.

If you think there's any chance you might race, then my suggestion is buy a race prepared car. It can get very expensive sorting a car for racing. I bought a race prepared car from a guy I trusted who I knew to be a perfectionist and that used the same mechanic I used. If I had to do it over again and my car wasn't available (I think I got an unbelievable deal on my car); I would start with my mechanic to recommend cars. If that didn't work, I'd go to this site and let folks know I was interested in a race car. My problem w/DE prepared cars is once you get out there, racing looks very fun!!
Try and get a history and maintance lofbook with the car. I didn't have to because it was in my mechanics computer as he did almost all the work in the prior 3 years before I bought it.

There's a little over an hour left in the auction. If you don't know this car and haven't actually seen it you might as well toss your $20k on the craps table and take your chances.... There's just so much that could be and probably will be wrong with this car. Without a thorough PPI your just shooting dice.
But hey, it had a valve adjustment in 2003....

the trailer looks too short for a rear engine car. Even with a tire rack, most trailers I've seen need a 911's rear tires to be over the rear trailer tires or in between both axles.

Says it has a trasnponder and remember PCA still lets you race with just a rollbar, provided the car is running in its true stock class. Euro SC is an F car.

But, JE pistons means hello GT3-S or R.

Final price was $14,700 - IMO someone got a good deal.
