Default HANS soft gel padding

Don't recall this being discussed mentioned during the H&N restraint wars, but I got these in an email:

I have these. Birthday present from my gf this year. She got me blue because it is my favorite color. Bought at CDOC- VIR.

Much improved over the standard padding on my Feb '06 model HANS. Thinner and more form fitting on the shoulder/traps area. The new standard HANS padding is better than what mine had, but the gel is better than both. Highly recommended.

We don't sell many of the gel pads but they are nice and conform to your body shape after using them a few times. Also good for anyone whose had neck or shoulder problems and need additional comfort.

You included a set I guess gratis when you sent the HANS for my kid last month; thanks a lot, they did indeed make for a better fit for a 110lb driver...

My HANS, bought in February 2005, had them on it at no additional charge.

I have looked at the gel pads and have a question. The ones I have seen are sleeves which slide onto the extensions over the chest. My HANS has a grippy rubberrized surface on the outer surface which I assume is there to help keep the harness straps from sliding off when needed most. Will the gel pads not defeat the purpose of this material?
