Default 2007 NASA Nationals GTS Challenge video thread

Here's my "highlight" video. First two laps or so and the 15 minute mark on are the real highlights. Jamie Frauenberg (BMW #007) and Chris Streit (911 #15) were 1st and 2nd in class. At the 15 minute mark I finally catch up to them.

John,
Thanks for posting the video. I wish I could've made it.
How effecient was the event ran (run)? How many cars ran in the GTS race? We're lucky to have 10 here in Houston. I've gotta go next year.

The event wqs run very well, efficient, and mostly on time. There were about 50 gts cars registered with about ~45 running. There was some contact in the first race with some heavy damage but after our "dressing down" by the series director everything was good. The weather was great and the track was very fast.

Here's a couple examples of how NASA and its participants get together to race and have a good time. One of our GTS3 racers had a compression leak in one of his cylinders on his 95 3.8. Another 993 driver (Sasha Clark) got collected in a mess and dinged his car bad enough his weekend was over. But alas, driver number two loans his motor to driver number one. It took a full day to get them swapped but he made it and ran in the finals.

Our Ohio/Indiana director decided not to race to help things run more smoothly.

Chris Streit spent Saturday afternoon helping me try to figure out why my throttle stuck wide open in qualifying.

Jamie Frauenberg loaned me 105 lbs in steel plates to make weight.

It is a great group and it's a blast to run with these guys and even more fun hanging out in the evenings.

Mark,
I got DQ'd on Friday due to my dyno pull that revealed 17.5 more HP than any of the 3 prior dynos. Peter Dawe builds on sweet 3.4. Saturday I did not get any lap times in qualifying as my transponder cable adjusted itself to block my signal (and my throttle stuck open before I got a decent lap anyway). I almost decided to pack it in.

Stuttgart,
Plan on it next year. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Eddie,
Thanks!

Here's my in car video of the Spec/GTS, and 944 Cup. The Spec class gridded at the end of GTS, so you can see John motor away.

John attributes his mysterious 17 hp gain to a switch to red line oil ! I cannot think of a better indorsement for RedLine !!!

John,

Great driving!! I still have 1/4 of the video to go through (busy at work). That car looks like it's quite a work-out. Thanks for posting.

Yes he does.

Been using Peter's services for several / cars & years.

Tough to come from the back and not get in an "incident" on cars not expecting to "see you".

John, Awsome drive. It almost looked like one of Keen's videos. What class is Jim Stickley (E-36 with lots of power and torque) in? He is a local guy and I heard he did fairly well despite a starting grid penalty forcing him to the rear.

I hope to drive the course for the first time this Friday. It looks like a blast.
