Default Racin Seat Expiration Date

Does anyone know if PCA has a maximum allowable age for a racing seat? I race in GT2s and have a Sparco seat that's dated 1998. I was just filling out my annual tech for the CMP race and was thinking about it. I couldn't find anything in the rules, but if it's dated, I figure there must be an expiration date.

Under safety, rule 27 has your answer. From my reading, it appears you can use any age seat if you have a seat brace. If you do not have a brace, it must be replaced after 5 years.

Thanks Brian!
I remember that now. That's why I had to do the seat back brace and then add the HD Foam padding to it in 2005.

The seat expiration date is 6 years after manufacturer date. This is a rules clarification that occured in 2007 due to the fact that when you purchase a seat, it is almost already one year old.

Default Question about seat dates - for DE

I understand the rationale for racing, was wondering if seat date "expiry" is also an issue at the PCA DE level?
