but build a car that is slower than a Corvette?

We know that the spectators really enjoy watching cars that look like road cars race. If you want a cookie cutter race car, at least pick a good looking one! Its worth it, you are going to have lots of them.

I heartily agree with Nordschleife. If you want a series with closely managed performance at least focus it on good looking GT cars (that can be about as fast anyway). The DPs are so ugly... (IMO)

There is nothing "snobby" about it. I follow ALMS and the LMP cars for the technology. I find the DP cars very boring to watch, there is nothing exciting about them.

Defend the DP's all you want, calling them a "prototype” is about as silly as “stock cars” in the Cup series.

The GT1 Corvette's would be a lot faster if they were allowed to run an open intake. So what?

+1

It's sorta nice not knowing what the top 3 is going to look like before the race even starts.

That being said, I happily watch both. One because the cars are so damn cool and the other because the racing is so damn good.

Hey;

I don't dissagree with Bryan at all. The DP cars are what they were intended to be. Aside for my underlying dislike of ANYTHING linked to NASCAR, I prefer what I've seen of the racing in ALMS -vs GA. Clean, hard, skillful racing, in high tech cars. That's what ALMS was supposed to be.

Seems like they both have met their objective.

Here's the blurb:

V8 Porsche to Grand-Am
Porsche should debut a new V8 Daytona Prototype engine in Grand-Am's season finale at Miller Motorsports Park. Two cars that might run the engine are the No. 23 Alex Job Racing Crawford or the No. 58 Red Bull Brumos Riley. It's unclear what effect the V8 will have on the current flat-six Porsche, and if it will soon be extinct. Porsche is the only prototype engine manufacturer that doesn't currently field a V8
