Looking to replace my leather GT3 shell seats for one with improved driver protection. If anyone has a lead on a used that that hasn't been crashed, please let me know.
BTW, I didn't post this in the Member-to-Member forum because not everyone is a member.
Thanks.

Mark,
I have a standard size SPG pro racer (not xl) that I am not using anymore. Still has a couple of years of FIA approval left (no rear seat back brace needed for PCA/NASA). PM me if the skinny version will work. (I am 225lbs with a 36in waist and 47 in chest and I fit, a little tight but I like it that way for the race car)

Hey Eric,
How are you? Thanks for the response.
I have yet to sit in an SPG or a Pro Racer and am not 100% sure of the size I need. I am just under 6', weigh 182 lbs and have a 34" waist and 43" chest. I currently have the Porsche Euro GT3 shell seats and have some hip movement in them, which I actually like (gives me some wiggle room for left foot braking). Someone who is 6'2" and 185 lbs with a 33" waist said the standard Pro Racer HANS seat was too tight for him, and he's skinnier than I am.
I already have a seat back brace, so I'm good to go with that. Will there be any issues with the HANS?
Thanks!

Mark,
All is good! How did you like Putman? Coming to RA for Labor Day? I ran the seat with my Hans for 1 1/2 seasons, worked great. I am 5 11 and had a Hans factory rep check out the car, belts, seats ect and everything lined up. They told me to get rid of the Ram-pack belts because they had the chest strap. I guess fit is in the behind of the beholder! My buddy Jeff (same size as you) fit perfectly in the seat.

Mark,
I just bought and installed the ProRacer XL (non-HANS). I was told they are no longer making the ProRacer-XL HANS seat and the new model has not come out yet. I am about the same size as you (I'm 5' 9", 185 , 34" waist) and found the seat holes on the non-HANS seat were perfect for me (ie, did not need the larger HANS holes). While I could just berely squeeze into the non-XL, I think the XL is the best for me and am happy after a couple weekends in it.

Hey Eric,
I loved Putnam and did well there. It was a great place to try out the trail-braking techniques that Chris Cervelli taught me, unlike Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen. I actually did my very first DE at Putnam, but I barely remembered any of it from five years ago. My car is completely dialed-in and my head is getting there, too.
I'm going to PM you for pricing and all of that other stuff.

Tom,
Thanks for the info. Geez, there are so many models. What the heck is the difference between the SPG and SPA, which I think is the current one?
Does it really make a difference to have a HANS-specific recaro? Looks like it's, yes, time for a search...

SPG is the fiberglass/normal version ($1450) and SPA is the super light-weight/super expensive version ($3000).
All the HANS seat adds is bigger holes on the shoulder area to allow for greater differences in shoulder height of the driver. The non-HANS was just right for me.

Just for another sizing reference, I'm 5-11 180 with a 33" waist, and the regular SPG is absolutely perfect for me. It could actually even be a bit tighter, but I'm used to a kart seat sucking the air out of me. In most cases, snugger is better...

I'm 5'10" (okay...5'9") 192lbs (down 14lbs in the past 6 weeks!) with 44" chest and 36" waist and I have the SPG Pro Racer (non-XL) and while snug I like it just fine....I had an SPG XL and it was too wide for me....same with the Racetech seats...all too wide for my liking....
