Continuing probems with theft at LCMT....
The following is excerpted from Rob Sloanacker's most recent monthly newsletter.......... Not even the bigs guys like Skip Barber are immune.
"Slip Angle Update August 2007
News
I cannot believe July is over already. With two big Skip Barber Race weeks it goes by quickly. Lime Rock had a lot of great racing action and many new drivers learning how to race for the first time. Mt. Tremblant seems to be everyone's favorite on the SBRS schedule and is full every year. This track is a must drive, not to mention the community as well. In winter it is a ski resort and summer brings many activities for the rest of the family too. So if you want a location to bring them to the track for the first time, this is the one. Although I keep things under tight lock and key as many SBRS customers and the company itself had a few items stolen out of the paddock there. Seems there are some locals who have found a way to get a few more dollars out of the tourists."
Too bad. I hope the RCMs are on this! Shame to tarnish the fun factor.

What kind of items?
Makes a big difference for many guys as loading tires back into the track car is a pain but throwing the toolbox back in is not so bad.
So far I have heard of smaller easy to carry items being taken. And I believe they were not locked down.
I would make friends with a enclosed trailer owning driver when at the track. And that applies to any track (except the Glen if you have a garage space).

I gotta say I've never hear of anything being stolen from a track event in the past 10+ years. Not to say that it hasn't happened, but not to the frequency of that place.
Whare are the Mounties? At the doughnut shop?

I can do without the aggravation, going to stay away until they get a handle on it..
And if anyone believes I will EVER stay away from a great track like Mt Tremblant I have some land out west for sale cheap!

Just treat your stuff like you would (or should) anywhere else.

You're just trying to keep other drivers away; I get it now.
Edit - Gary has now edited his "I am staying away" post to indicate he was only joking around, so I hereby officially retract my 'tut tut you are over-reacting' post.

The two thefts were different. The 930 that was stolen was one town over from Mont Tremblant, near the expressway and appears to be from some form of organized crime. The parts/tools stolen from skip barber were from an UNLOCKED trailer thought to have been by local kids.
