Default Anyone run w./ SCDA

I am instructing with SCDA on August 16th @ NHIS. Some friends asked me if I would come work for their club. Has anyone ever run with them? I have only run with PCA and I want to know what to expect. - Jay

I've run with them several times. I really like the organization. Professional and well run. Former head of instruction from Skip Barber started it and now his son mostly runs it. They run a good event. When I've been out with them it was a lot of higher end cars and a lot of fun to run with cars other than Porsche. I'd recommend them.

i ran with them at nhis and at lrp. they are not as strict as local pca regions in enforcing passing rule/zones. although passing is by point bys they don't strictly enforce it (i.e. no black flags or yelling...). i haven't experienced/seen any out of control drivers at all. great variety of cars from sm to challenge/rsr and every thing else in between.

Depends on the day on the whole Point-By thing, mostly in the classroom. It IS a gentleman's sport after all.

I've done a number of days with them, a couple of WG, 3-4 LRP, and a couple of NHIS dates. Ian Prout is your contact (ianuprout at aol dot com), as mentioned, his father Bill was with Barber. Bill had some interesting stories about driving a 911 back in the day for me when I was struggling with my 84 at NHIS in the rain.

They really have their act together and take safety seriously, but are not looking to ****-probe anyone unnecessarily. I suspect you'll like the org Jay.

Hi Jay
Yes, have done a couple with SCDA + their teenage driver defense driving school (no, not for me, but it was still worth it. Parent got to take the class with the teenager. A blast).
Anyway - Ian and family are great. You meet his Mom and sister at registration and they are really interested in whether you are having fun. Dad (Bill) was chief instructor for Skippy school back in the day.
On track was safe and sane - very similar to a Chin (TracQuest) event. I have not instructed with them.
Highly recommended.

Jay, you will like the events and instructing with them. It's a fun group, and the Prouts are a pleasure to work with. They appreciate instructors involvement and the attendees--and make it known.

The events are well organized and the instructors pick the students. You may change students or cars if it's not working, which seems to work very well for all involved.

I have run with them over the years from novice to instructor level and would also say they run a very professional event, good classrooms. There is no charge at all for instructors.

Great, I am really looking forward to running with them. That is interesting how the instructors just pick their students cars. That is a little interesting, but what the hell right! Anyone here going to the Aug. 16th event at NHIS? If not sign up and lets have a good Porsche turn out.

I've run with them several times over the years, at LRP and NHIS. Ian and his family are great to work with, and you will have a tremendous assortment of hardware there, and they're definitely not ****.

Lots of Lotus Elises, Corvettes, Vipers, Miatas, P-cars, etc. Last time I was there, there was a guy in a old Mercedes 190E sedan...
