Default AVAN NEOVA Vs. TOYO RA-1?

Anyone here know how they stack up? I know the advan is OEM for the Lotus and some of the local porsche guys seem to rave on about them but are they "r-compound" or similar in their gripping ability?

They seem to start out with similar tread levels as the RA-1 and dont require shaving i think.

I would like to know because it seems that RA-1's in the sizes i need are on national backorder here

Omar, I can't comment on which is better but I have heard nothing but FANTASTIC reviews from guys running the Neova. I was talking to another instructor at an event recently and ask what tires his student was running and he thought they were r-comps until the student clarified what the "Neova" was. Grippy tire.

We run the Neovas on our Subaru WRX and they work very well. They are the best of the "street" tires and have lots of grip, but they are not nearly as fast as the RA-1s. In the Car & Driver test, they were a little faster than the MPS2s.

Hmm..i think i'm a bit confused about the Advan product line.

It seems the NEOVA is their street tire right?
What about the A032R and the A048? According to their website, the A032R is their DOT-R racing tire?

Omar

I believe the 032R is being replaced by the 048R, while the Neova is a true street tire that is very sticky (r-coumpound like), this way they can be used in classes where r-compound is not legal

There are several "Advan" tires but only one "Neova".

ah ok.. in that case, my question would center around the A048 (medium hard compound) vs the RA-1.

also dell, you tried the Nitto NT-01's rite? how'd you like em?

go for the advan 048. great tire just a little noisy. price is good too! I have only run 2 days on them so far and love them. the toyos are not available in proper sizes for my car...how stupid is that? I was going to order.

dan,
i've decided to go with the NT-01 nitto. it seems to produce faster laptimes than the RA-1 with similar wear and longevity.

turns out the A048 isn't available in the size i need either
