Has anyone here used Braille batteries on your race/track car?
If so, what is your point of view on them?
Thanks.

Overpriced ($170) version of Magna Power ETX14 battery available at Auto Zone for $70. Also same as Deka ETX14, Offensive Power, and many other private label batteries which are all made at EPM, East Penn Manufacturing.
This is my second season on the Auto Zone Magna Power battery and it's worked perfectly. 12 pounds vs. the stock battery of around 40 pounds. I wouldn't recommend it for winter use or for a street car with lots of electronics though.

The popular one used to be the B14115, which weighs in at 11.8 pounds and is the one I compared and pictured above. You must be looking at the new B106, which is lighter and just came out this year. It's listed as having 210 CCA. My battery is listed at 200 CCA and works fine, FWIW. Fires right up on cold starts, no hesitation at all.

I can fire up my 10.2:1 motor with both cooling fans on with my generic Odyssey 680-type battery. Granted it's only a few months old. I'm not sure how well the battery will fare over a couple years of use though.

I have the 12lb Braille. The only problem I have encountered is the lack of juice to start my car when it's really cold out (below freezing). If the car doesn't crank on the first one or two trys, then I pull out the portable jumper.

A little bit off topic, perhaps, but what's the trick to mounting these (in a 944)? Extra brackets? Are these gel -can they be laid sideways? Thanks.

love it, same battery as this.....
they are gel and can go anywhere, even seen them in a glove box.
also when car is at the track and at home I keep a trickle charger on it..
