I don't even need the beer . . . I'm just glad when they 'get it.' And yes, I agree, the most rewarding thing about instructing is sharing my love of motorsports.

Good idea, Dave . . . I just started one . . . https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...97#post4249897 Hopefully this won't tick anyone off. It's just for fun. I mean, students get to rag about instructors, why not tell some fun stories (well, scary, really) about our students?

LV, thanks. Glad you got back into instructing; as you know, we need all the qualified help we can get.

Thanks Agio

It did take some serious thought before I did b/c I did NOT enjoy it in the past. Maybe it was old region. The biggest problem I had was not that I didn't enjoy helping somebody out with motoring instruction, it is just that M-F I do that as a profession (college professor) and I found that I just didn't have any patience come the weekend to "teach".

Now that I have reorganized my priorities and realize that others gave to me in the early days I feel as though it is the natural next step and now that I have starting instructing again, I am really enjoying it. As long as the student gets it of course

Dell,
If you're ever thinking about running with us here in FL, drop me a note. Sebring , Moroso (yuk!), Homestead are our home tracks, of course. PCA GCR & PBOC to name a couple of venues. We run virtually every month and often times more than once a month...all year long, including the blast furnace summer.
ciao fn,
Bob

Bob, I defintely will. I have some other Rennlisters down that way that I would love hook up with as well on track. I am pretty much booked up this year but next year my wife and I are going to start travelling to out of state tracks. There are a ton of tracks out here on the east coast all the way from Canada to Florida that we want to go to.

Looking forward to it

I have instructed at Sebring with Chin a few times when I was visiting my signicant other (talk about a long distance relationship). You've really gotta do that track! It's flat, but packed full of fun. Just watch out for turn 17.

Bonster & Dell,
By all means. B, when you do decide to make the trek from "in your dreams," let me know.
I have run virtually all the tracks up in the NE and Florida and Roebling, but Bridgehamton (now a golf course) and the Glenn were my favorites. Sebring is also a very nice track...flat, but then, so is all of FL.
Anyhow, give me the heads up.
ciao fn,
Bob

Hey Argio, what's up with all the cancelled Homestead dates?

I see pboc/pca is at moroso (aka SwampVille) next weekend... and not homestead as planned....

--(and yeah, (IMHO), accepting tips, just doesn't seem right...... seems kinda like tipping the ref at basketball game... like I might subconsciously favor them... But, I have accepted a beer at end of day... & maybe a lunch..)

--its the grin at the end of the day, that is a reward, something money can't buy.

Bill,
Homestead somehow booked the track without checking to see that the track was already booked! Sloppy work. I'm told they booked the track with some guy named Petty...so, we got bumped.
You're right about the "other" swap, but nix can be done now...it's Mososo or nothing for that w/e.
You going?

***I'm from the land of Sears Point and Laguna Seca. I'll make sure and look up the schedules for Sebring when I'm out there next. I typically borrow a car from one of Chin's organizers, but I'd instruct even if I can't borrow or rent something. I have almost as much fun showing someone how to drive as I do when I'm behind the wheel.
