Actually, she does ("how much does a new set of tires cost?!").

^^^ That's too funny, Rick. And it's another reason why I'm afraid to get married.

She's actually great; can't imagine life without her. Very tolerant of the 2 Porsches, multiple car magazines, and 30 days away for track events (maybe the last part is why she supports my DE habit; hmmmmm).

I'm sure she's a wonderful lady, Rick. My boyfriend is also very tolerant, etc., but I worry that might change if we share a checkbook someday.

After watching The Sopranos carnage last night, the reference to 'greasing your instructor' had me ducking.
Then I saw that you meant tip your instructor.
The only tip I ever received as an instructor was to not say 'both feet in' when instructing in a , you guessed it, Tiptronic (right, Dave D?).

ROFL about the Tiptronics. Yeah, it's kinda hard to teach in automagic cars, isn't it? I really like the cars with GPS -- that way, we don't get lost. As far as tipping . . . maybe I need to instruct in Jersey more. I've never been tipped. Wahhhh.

I have received a gratuity more than once. Tried to decline on general principle, but these individuals were persistant. And generous!

I think maybe it's just that Californians are cheap or something. Floridians, too. Lol.

Mussberger,
No. Do not tip your instructor by offering money, etc. Their reward is having you improve your driving and watching you move up the ranks. I have been offered money and graciously did not accept it.
The instructors do this because they want to give back to "the program." Often, we get to run for a fraction of the regular fee. But, make no mistake about it, it's work...hard work.
My gang truly enjoys the work and would not take any monetary gift....maybe a lunch...hehehe.
Good luck.

Couldn't be said any better. I decided to get back into instructing because I wanted to "give back" and help those that are in the very place I once was when I started this track addiction. Had I not had some of the greatest instructors (and patient) I would have never become the driver I am today, nor would I have enjoyed it as much. A simple thank you at the end of the weekend shows plenty appreciation. Our satisfaction comes from a student that improves and the sharing of a nice cold beer at the end of the day.
