I can't tell if those are 1' contours or 2'. If 2' then maximum slope is 10%. I don't like the looks of those kinks to get past the wetlands at 800' and 9700'... Should be an interesting 2010 season!

Update: Looks like they are going to get the green light by July. Initially they were going to get multiple investors to contribute and get NER a stake in it, however they had one private investor step up. It was Tim Pappas of Pappas enterprises, (if you recongnize his name it's because he has raced in ALMS), he apparently wants to build something more fancy than NER had in mind with FIA specs, 2.4 miles 3000ft straight away. They signed a letter of intent back in December (good to know, since it means it was done with the knowledge of the currect financial situation). SCCA already had all the original permits done, and they already have the changes approved, and are just making some more slight changes, then it looks like they will be good to go. I'm still not super confident because you know how these things are, but it's good to see they have made some significant progress. If you are a SCCA member check out the latest issue of Pit Talk for more details.

Pit Talk is a NER specific news letter, so you have to belong to that region to receive it. From what I've been told, things are going extremely well and the track is going to be even nicer than originally planned. One of the things I'm excited about is the elevation changes that the track will have. Sweet!! Can't wait to see thing thing become a reality. It's pretty amazing to see how much work people have volunteered their time to get to this point.
