New race track in Palmer MA? status?

How do you like the comment in the article that it is to attract "older men?" Maybe we can cash in on building a seniors' facility nearby for geriatric racers. Anybody know how to adapt an electric wheelchair for track use?

Hi Bill
By the time they build it, I may well be in that category. Do I get a discount?
More seriously - I love the press release wording that is designed to show the local folks that we aren't crazy NASCAR fans (which is true, so I don't mind the description).
Though not all of us 'older' drivers are all that grown up, now that I look in the mirror.

Roscoe,
Do you have contact with the organizers? Can you let them know there are plenty of us that would be happy to write a letter of intent / encouragement, which could help with final approvals and financing feasibility. For example, within RL there might be representatives from every PCA chapter in the Northeast and I'm betting that every chapter around here would love to hold DE events in Palmer. Factor into that that we've all been told our dates at Lime Rock will be cut in half, and that might just put Palmer's financing package over the top.

The organizers are the NER SCCA. If you look http://www.palmermotorsportspark.com/ you can get in touch with them.

It is gratifying to see the positive response to NER SCCA’s efforts to build a new track in Palmer. My name is Dick Patullo and I am the point man for the club on this project.
The Palmer Ma Planning Board voted 5-0 Monday night to approve a Special Permit and Site Plan Review to build a 2.14 mile race track on a 500 acres parcel as proposed by NER Investments LLC.
This follows the previous approval by the Palmer Conservation Commission.
The final approval needed is a State MEPA (Mass Environmental Protection Act) Environmental Impact Report approval which is a detailed filing documenting the facilities compliance with environmental regulations. This is a three stage process of which the first stage has been approved.
NER Investments LLC was created by NER SCCA specifically for the purpose of building this facility. It was created to allow the opportunity for other clubs and enthusiasts an opportunity to invest is this new club racing facility. In the end NER SCCA will remain a minority owner.
We expect to complete the MEPA process in the next 90 days or so. We have information available for qualified investors if anyone is interested in being part of this project.

Thanks for an official update Dick. I know I speak for many in CT, MA and NH when I say that it will be nice to have a new "Home" track, esecially with LIme Rock going Condo and cutting days available.

Update
This past Saturday I was told that the (sports car) track is going to happen, money and approvals are done.
The skid pad/AX/car control section apparently is not going to happen.
