How to secure wheel weights
This sounds like a silly question - I have heard that wheel weights should be secured with a layer of metal(?) tape in addition to the adhesive under the weights themselves.
Having stopped at a couple of local parts stores where I was told 'huh?' I am wondering whether this is really the way to do it.
So - should I use so-called metal tape over the weights, or just use duct tape?
If metal tape, is this a racer item?
Thanks (on to more important things)

When you get 'trackside' tire service (i.e. race weekends), tire vendors use metalized tape over the top to secure the stick-on 'tape weights'.
Tape is a heating and air-conditioning item. Check Home Depot...really.

The beauty of HVAC aluminum tape is it's heat rated (adhesive and the aluminum). So the big heat generated by friction and brakes shouldn't negatively impact it. Not cheap, but a roll will last a lifetime

New item on my list of things to do before next weekend's Lime Rock DE: buy some metal tape from Home Depot and secure my wheel weights.
Never had wheel weights fall off my wheels (some may say I'm not driving fast enough for that to happen! ) but given that I've read this, if I don't apply metal tape, they are sure to fall off!

I like the metal tape the best too. I have used some heat proof mylar tape that seems to work just as well.

Just back from Home Depot, where 10 yards of foil tape went for about $3. That should be enough for awhile.
I am beginning to think I am getting obsessive about this car thing.

Been using the metal tape for years. I panic when it isn't on there as it is only a matter of time before a wheel weight falls off...
