Rennlisters at DE events-Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Tracks version
A thread with the title Purple Haze Got Promoted to Black suggested that we try to match Rennlist user names with real names (and our cars). The idea is that we can recognize each other at the track. Great idea - so good that I think we should have a dedicated thread.
So, my suggestion is that active DE participants post the following:
If this is a good idea, feel free to copy it for other regions.
Here's mine:
User Name: RickBetterley
Real Name: Rick Betterley (that was easy)
Run Group: Red (instructor)
#861
Tracks:
Watkins Glen
Mont Tremblant
New Hampshire
Lime Rock
VIR
Calabogie (soon)
So, my suggestion is that active DE participants post the following:
User Name
Real Name
Current Run Group
Car # (if assigned)
Tracks they generally frequent
Car Picture
My suggestion is that we do this by region in order to keep the volume manageable. If this is a good idea, feel free to copy it for other regions.

Insurance agents, warranty compliance people, etc. - plenty of other reasons to not disclose in a public forum. I thought I'd add some levity to the issue by saying "OK guys, I know you are all shy, but I'll be the first to post a photo of me..." and it was with helmet and shades.
There is a way though... At least here in CT if we all go to PCA meetings we can do something to indicate we are RL guys. I did it at the Tech Tactics - wrote an RL on my name tag and had Deanski from the 997 forum find me...

Hi Ron
I never knew Rennlist was such a secretive place :>}
Now, posting pictures of crashed cars at LRP; that I wouldn't do (though the intent was sound).

Years ago I posted my name, my email was directly linked, etc. Then I started reading true stories about Insurance companies and car makers that would send their "people" to the DEs in the area and take photos of cars (license plates), read the forums, and then when guys would show up at the dealer for warranty work (or if a claim was made), they'd be handed copies of their own posts on the web, photos of them at the track, etc. I'm not saying this is common, but it sure got me thinking that some anonymity is probably not a bad idea.
Nonetheless, I like getting to know my fellow DE enthusiasts...

I hear you; maybe I was right that it was a dumb idea (which I stole from another thread when I thought it was a good idea).
Its easier when you drive an older, out of warranty car with specific track insurance, I guess.
Thanks for your thoughts; they are good ones.
