Where was this post 2 weeks ago I just signed up with LaurelDE. $4,700, 17,500 deductible for 30 days ($115k value). Seams these guys have a lot lower deductible and a bit lower rates!

This is great news! Rates sound ok, and I really like the low deductible. I might actually get the insurance.

Now that there is a little competition...wonder if Laurel rates will come down...

Hey Ryan,

Can't you just cancel your policy and just prorate your premium paid? I found out about this on a BMW forum i used to frequent (actually still do). Seems like a pretty good deal.

It is a good deal. I've asked about racing insurance as well.

Don't think I can cancel without just losing the policy. Since it's not governed by traditional insurance regulations, they are not required to do so. I'll just wait the year out.

Doesn't hurt to ask. Anything to save a buck and get the same coverage at a lower price point.

The deductible is $4,000 for cars over a certain limit like my 997S ($75-100k). Premium is 3% of the value of the car. So, my 997S would be about $2,600 a year plus $4k deductible. I say I ran only 8 track days a year, that would work out to $325 each. Then again, if I ran 20, it would be only $130 a day for insurance coverage. Fortunately, my carrier currently covers DEs under my normal policy - but we all know how the industry is changing...

I'd like to hear about the claims process with these guys. Will they come through? Laurel really came through for me. So, while I want to save a buck too and am interested in this, I know Laurel comes through. Not only that, after I trashed the 993, Laurel applied the rest of my track days to the SC which I bought a month later. Pretty cool.

Not having a limit on the number of days is great for me, as I have been doing 30+ each year.

I just got home and found this email - thought I'd share it with you

Hi,

I was at RA this weekend with the BMWCCA and a gentleman named Chris Maume from Snelling Walters a Motor Sports Insurance firm talked to us during the drivers meeting. He has been able to develop an insurance plan that is solely for on track physical damage. It reads alot like the American Classic track insurance that is no long available. His number is 678-643-8415 or cmaume@snellingwalters.com. Chris participated in the DE this weekend. I just thought I would pass this on in case any of your club might be interested.

See you in May,
Steve

Seems Chris is making the rounds...

I also know Chris personally, and have done business with him. I strongly endorse what Seth says here.
I called him last Friday, but it seems he doesn't return calls! (or write Insurance in Calif?)

I phoned him, so we'll see how long it takes to get a response. I don't see why I should email him as well.
