Ej,
What I have seen so far on SpeedChannel is pretty good. A replay of the year in review for ALMS, F1, and the two World Challenge Series, also a recap of the 24hrs of Daytona. The SPeedweek news was not 25 minutes of Nascar and 5 mins of everything else like RPM tonight but gave good coverage to CART,IRL, and F1 as well as NASCAR.
I love CART and IRL and was always ticked at the poor coverage ABC and ESPN gave. 2hrs of the race instead of flag to flag and qualifying on a 3am, it was silly. And if the race ran long and a golf tournament was scheduled, guess who got the shaft.
Even though NASCAR isn't my favorite I would rather watch it than some of the stuff speedvision used to show.
Look on the bright side it could expose a large population of motorsports fans to new forms of racing and increase viewership, which increases the chance of sponsorships, which bring more and better cars to sportscar racing.
Some times you have to take a step back to go forward.
Greg

UPS notwithstanding, I had actually heard that NASCAR had experienced a decline in sponsorship money over the past year. Can't remember where I saw that.

Even the most jaded NASCAR hater has to love short track high banked Bristol at night.

Gotta go.... Cooter's here to work on the General Lee.

Well, NASCAR now seems to be on ESPN, SpeedChannel, TNT, TNN and one of the big networks, at least on my cable provider. Isn't that enough?? It's almost like the're trying to brainwash the American Public into liking the left, left ,left, crash type of racing. I'm also amazed to see that while the FIA is actively trying to remove tobacco sponsorship, NASCAR embraces it. Just my 2 cents...Just needed to rant TIme to sit back with a cold one and finish up wiring in my cutoff switch

The problem with NASCAR sponsorship right now is that with the big money going to the big 4 or 5 teams, there is a growing divide between the haves and the have nots. I know this is true in all racing, but NASCAR hasn't experienced it yet. Now a sponsor comes in and can only get on the rear quarter panel of a top team for $6 or $7 mil, but that amount will buy a whole car with a team that will need big luck to crack the top 20 week in and week out. It becomes a very tough question for the board rooms and the teams end up suffering. So you are really seeing the lesser teams with lesser sponsors and they can never dig themselves out of the hole. I think the gap is only going to get bigger.

As far as Bristol at night, any fan would love to see that racing and even our jaded sports car fans here would have positive things to say about NASCAR fans after that experience. Trust me on that one. Here is a link to one I took during a day race on a day I was 'working'. I think Chris' mechanic Cooter is in the pic.

I agree that it seems that NASCAR is on all the different channels, but let the momentum die from Daytona and you won't see it as much.

I agree with you Greg, wish more people did. We need to give it a chance to shake out. FOX Sports is overall a diverse network with Austrailian Football, Rugby, European Golf, so maybe they will continue and show different series of racing too.
