Can a 968 be competitive?
I currently have a euro spec 1983 SC, however, it is a cabriolet with relatively low mileage. I would prefer not to modify it to race, therefore, I am looking for another alternative. I keep coming back to the 968. Well balanced, price has become very reasonable, etc., etc.
Do you think a 968 would be competive in F-Stock up against the 911's? Unfortunately there aren't as many speed parts as the 911's.
Also, does PCA stock classes allow adjustable dampers? All opinons are appreciated. Thanks.

To see if a 968 is competitive in F-stock, check the results posted for 2001 on the PCA website.
To see what is legal for F-stock, get the current rulebook for club racing from the PCA website...

I have started Time Trialing my 1995 968M030, and it seems to be competitive with other Porsches that would be in F Stock PCA Club Racing. That said, I can also say the lap times of winning PCA F Stock cars are consistently better than my lap times. I will attribute this to better preparation and more experience (grin). My car is truly stock and I have yet to begin optimizing it in accordance with the Club Racing rules. I hope to make it to at least one Club Race in the Northeast this year. See you there? TKS> JeffM

As far as I know 968's are not competitive in F stock, but that may be more due to their rarity in the class than their ability. That being said I still have my doubts that it will be able to compete with a C2 or a 944 turbo in PCA racing.
As others have pointed out, take a look at the club race times. Keep in mind these are racing times and qualifying times are even faster. Can you see yourself dipping into that range? Remember F has some of the best drivers in all of PCA racing and they're only getting faster.
Adjustable dampers are allowed. Remember suspension is free in stock classes as long as you don't modify the mouting points or the mounting type.
