Is mid ohio worth the trip?

no lose situation
Both are top tracks. Mid Ohio is a technicle track, Mosport is a test to see how big your b@11s be. Mid Ohio is less $$ for track time, hotels, and gas + is a little safer bet in early or late season.
Long but easy highway drives.

Any pucker factor turns like the kink at RA at Mid Ohio? I've done video games and watched a bunch on TV (including Micky Andretti's famous flight into the sand trap) but never actually been there. Want to someday make the long haul from Iowa but need a better long tow tow vehicle first...

T11 requires braking under cornering load with an increasing radius turn - crest of a hill before track out (and before remodeling, a very close wall on both outside and inside). Much ealier apex than most think and you will have the car sliding and not really under control in the first half of the corner (until it opens up). If you miss your marks, the car will be turning too much as you crest the hill and you will lose it.
Most good DE folks leave a good 1.5 seconds on the table with that corner and most club racers leave almost a second. You can go after that last bit of time, but the risk level is pretty high (at least with the old wall locations).

What Mark says. I never thought there was that much time in that corner until I rode with a guy that won a few SCCA Runoffs in SRF and FA. That is just one place where lots of time hides for most of us mortals.

I have made the trips to Mid-Ohio and Mosport (and VIR) with NNJR for the past 5 years. It just happens to be that they are each about exactly 8hrs from my home. They are all great, but different, tracks and I have a difficult time ranking them. I will say that the drive to Mid-Ohio is by far the most boring drive, and if I had to cut out one of the three, that would likely be the deciding factor.
If you have never been to MO, DO IT!

I wanted to make it to Mid-O last year but it just didn't happen, this summer will be different as the trip is already on my schedule. I plan to be there for the NNJR PCA event and then possibly NASA nationals if I'm successful in TTB.
