Default What is the weather generally like at Watkins Glen during mid-April?

Any thoughts as to the 'typical' weather during mid-April at WGI? Like southern New England (meaning anything from snow to wet cold rain to sunny and nice - sometimes all 3)?
TIA

I would plan on cold rain. It seems like that's all it ever does at that time of year. You may get lucky, but don't hold your breath.

Hey, I think the 4 cylinder watercooled cars are great in winter. I drove a 924 all through high school in Montana many moons ago. One morning it was 43 below zero (cutoff for school closing was 45 below ). My parent's new Toyota pickup and Nissan Pathfinder wouldn't start even though they were plugged in. The Nissan just puked stuff overboard the rubber seals were useless. The 924 started on the first crank.

I drove that thing everywhere in the snow and with good tires it was great.

Rick
This is a joke post, right?!

Spring doesn't come to central NY before June. Sometimes July.

I recall one spring in Rochester (tip of hat to Don Ehinger) when it snowed in May.

Default No joke weather question

I was afraid of this; the question is legit - there is an advanced drivers event mid-April. I wanted to go, but then I thought 'wait, if it is often lousy DE weather at Lime Rock in April, why would WGI be any better?'
Watch - it will be a beautiful spring couple of days.
I am inclined to sign up anyway.

Are you contemplating the Kojote event in April? I figured that I would wait until a couple of days before to see what the weather will be like---and pay at the track.

Rick, HCR has an advance driver day in May...that has it's weather issues as it is. You may want to check to see if the Blizzack truck will be there. Don't get 'em shaved.

Rick,

Who knows? Last year ('06) mid-May was wet and chilly - not freezing but rainy, nasty. The year before was 2 beautiful Spring days, same mid-May event.

According to the ground hog, we're in for an early Spring, so maybe you can catch a good "opening day" at WGI.

For further reference, we had snow flurries in the air at Road America one Memorial Day weekend in the 90s
