Any SoCal track events with ride along potential?
Years ago I went to a open house track day (Ontario Motor Speedway opening) and you could sign away your life and get a ride around the track. Anything like that still going on?
Anybody going to Fontana for the racing at the end of next month?

I remember from doing some solo type time trial events at Blackhawk Farms (2 mile road course) that during lunch slow rides were ok, but at speed, only certain people with lots of experience were allowed to bring people along at speed as a teaching tool. In fact, the guy who offered to show me how to drive in the wet spun off twice in one lap, while I had been the only car to go faster as the track got wetter, so much for the lesson.
I would find an event, then inquire.

This event was "loose", line up along pit row with signed release in hand, and hop in the next car that pulled in when you got to the front of the line. Porsche owners club and Pantera owners club, no helmets required, and one lap through the road course and back to the pit lane.
Kinda doubt anything like it will happen again.

NASA will be at California Speedway March 16-17. I'll be there, but my passenger seat will have an instructor in it!
try posting on www.nasaforums.com in some of the race class areas...944 Spec for example.

I will be at streets of willow on march 2nd with an open passenger seat for a few laps. Last time I ran with that group they allowed passengers, I'm pretty sure they still do.

Not really ride begging.
More a toddle down memory lane, and wondering what the local schedule was so I could go spectate or something. I live in Orange, so Fontana is 45 minutes away on a good traffic day.
When I saw people talking about NASA I thought it was a joke or something. I'll go check it out, thanks.

CA Festival of Speed, Cal Speedway Fontana March 30/31/1. You can drive the track (at a specified max speed) at lunch for $20 and see plenty of great cars and racing. It is an excellent event.
