Hank,
I just purchased my Sears digital protractor, installed my 993 ROW suspension, set the corner balance and ride height, and roughed in alignment settings enough to make the trip to the dealer. Did you ever determine how many degrees there are in a Porsche scale unit for setting kinematic toe?
Regards,

I guess I'm lazy but I can't see spending ~$2500 and my time to do what a local shop will do for $250. I'd need to do 10 alignments to break even. Once a year and I'd be at break even in 2012 ! It's negative cash flow for this hobby and I like to minimize the short term flow.

All you need for alignment is a calculator, a streight edge and a tape measure. If you can do simple trig, you can easily measure toe and camber. Castor is a little more complicated, but I can supply the formulas if you need it.
As for weights, you have to have access to scales. You can get a decent set for under $1000, but that might be excessive for the average guy. However, corner weights can be hundreds of pounds off and you would never know without scales. I guess you could find a local feed-mill or trash dump and weigh each corner individually. Make sure you disconnect the sway bars prior, and you can probably do so pretty easily.
