Default Boxster Spec Racing

Not sure if you guys are interested? But we are setting up a Spec Racing Series for the Boxster (97-99 currently). It's starting here in SoCal with a goal to be a Nationally recognized class once the rules mature. It started last year and over this Winter break, has had a mini explosion with one shop pumping out 8 new cars in these next couple months. You can check out the rules and the series at http://www.boxsterspecracing.org

Cheers,
Dylan.

Dylan - I see there is at least on shop building them, but are any shops renting BSR's?

Actually yes, one of the eight Boxsters that Tech Trix Motorsports is building, whilst being built for a regular customer, will be a rental race car.

I love it! The BSX is exactly what I have been recommending to PCA for 2 years now. The only difference is the shocks, I was suggesting just ROW 030 to eliminate the complexity of adjustibility. Best of luck!

Hi Dylan,

Excellent!

This absolutely will be the next popular "spec" racer series.

This may even be my first track dedicated car when I'm ready. Seems to be alot cheaper than the v3 route. That white boxter the techtrix did is crazy loud. I had to pass it just to not lose my hearing sunday.

They hadn't re-fitted the exhaust so it was straight pipes. It sounded like a thumping V8. But they are not normally that loud.

i get 5 lap head start and you can only run with rear brake pads.
i think that ought to even us out a bit.

Even if that's not the way its supposed to sound, I liked it. Would a BSR car be street legal? Could I drive it to and from the track? This really may be the route I seek after getting cup in a couple years. This is going to be an interesting thing to follow and see how many other clubs start it too.

There is the BSX version of the rules that keeps the car street legal. As for BSR being street legal? I guess that would depend on how far you stripped the car? The finished cars coming out of Tech Trix Motorsports (for example), still have full functioning lights. But no cats or interior, so run at your own risk?

Wow, this is great!
Finally I see a set of rules that look easy to follow and don't seem like a time drain at the shop and then at Test and tune.

In the mean time (While BSR becomes and official class in the North East) where would this cars be classed under PCA CR rules?
