I'm getting ready to rebuild my 89 930 turbo and feel its about time to replace the stock Porsche rods with something better. I'm hoping for 550-575 flywheel HP so I'm looking for aftermarket rods that can handle the almost 2x in HP. I'm looking to run only about 1.0 - 1.2bar and 7.5:1 compression. Right now, I'm leaning towards Pauter rods, but realize that Carrilo makes some as well. Anyone have experinece with either of the brands or can offer another choice? Thanks in advance

Geoffrey,
Most of the guys I've talked to in the club, (POC) recommend Carrillo and Pauter. I don't think you can go wrong with either, and keep in mind that they both build to order which, from what I'm told, is usually a 4-6 week leadtime. I plan on using Carrillo in the 3.6 race motor I'm currently building. \
Good luck !

Hi Geoff:
FWIW,... we've used Pauter Engineering's rods in everything from 275 HP street/race engine all the way to some 750+ HP 935's over the past 13 years. with no failures.
Some of these engines have seen 10.2K RPM on the tell-tale, and I've measured no rod stretch or deformation whatsoever. These used ARP 2000 bolts, too.
Less $$$ than Carillo, easier to get, and perhaps better windage characteristics, too.

All, Thank you for confirming my original suspicions. Now to figure out if I need 1mm smaller than stock to fit that 964 crank without milling 3.4 pistons down. See other posts...
