Post 1st time at Laguna Seca Friday May 2nd

I'm looking for any info helpful to a 1st time racer at Laguna Seca.

Does anyone have any links to Laguna Seca track movies or track tutorials?

There is some info at this link where I signed up at.
<a href="http://www.ncracing.org/events.html" target="_blank">http://www.ncracing.org/events.html</a>

BTW I was able to enter a Friday TT at Laguna Seca for only $250.
If you happen to enter use my name "Mike Gagen" (Ted Drake is just my screen name)as a referral. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

TIA for any L/S links.

The GGR PCA website also has links to videos and turn-by-turn descriptions.

make sure you have plenty of brakes (pad) Ted. LS is very hard on the brakes...

LS is a easy track to learn but hard to master because of the sheer speed.

Gang,

I wanted to get some advice on where I would be most likely to find time at Laguna. I’m running there three times in the next 5wks, two have timed events. I’ve spent 3 days there with Skippy, in the Formula cars, but when I ran the track the first time in my ’99 996 C4, all of the braking zones, shift points, etc were obviously way off from the Skip Barber experience.

I was there in Dec for a track day, and it sprinkled in the morning, and the timed part came in the early afternoon, which is where I had my first dry laps. I turned a 1:49, behind a RX7 with a 1:47. I know this car/driver, he’s good and the car’s well prepped. I know that I’m capable of posting better times, not just at Laguna. I have bested the RX7 where I have a bit more seat time in my car (eg Thunderhill CCW and CW).

5/2 will be a practice day for me, since there’s no timed element. I’m wondering, since this will be the second time on the track with my 996, does anyone have ideas where I should concentrate to find a couple of seconds (haha).

I feel good about 2-3-4-5, with not much to gain here -- I've been going really deep into the 2, using my brakes effectively. The slow part of the track for me, or at least where I feel there’s time to be had is 6 (just being overly cautious here), 8-9, and turn 11 transitioning onto the straight. I’m sure it’s a seat time thing, and I’ll probably grab someone to ride along and do some critiquing, but thought I’d throw this out to the group to see if there were nuggets of wisdom I could employ while I’m practicing on 5/2, in prep for 5/16 and 6/1. Can’t let a Wankle take top spot!!! I do expect to improve measurably by 6/1… I’ll report back on my results and what helped most. No substitute for seat time.

Thanks in advance for the advice.
