Smile Some news regarding Le Mans effort for The Racer's Group

Alwin Springer has announced that Rennlist-sponsored Le Mans entry, The Racer's Group, will contest the race with two of Porsche's factory contracted drivers. This is amazing news!

This immediately puts The Racer's Group in the spotlight as perhaps *the* GT team to beat at Le Mans. ...and this will be only their first ever trip to the French circuit.

Lucas Luhr and Timo Bernhard will join Kevin Buckler (team owner) behind the wheel in June. Now, for those who aren't aware of the credentials of these three drivers, here's a quick primer.

Luhr - 1999 Porsche Carrera Cup champion with three wins, 3-time 12 Hours at Sebring winner in GT (2000, 2001, 2002), Seven GT wins in ALMS, a podium finish in the Prototype class at the 2002 24 Hours of Daytona. He has also experienced success at Le Mans in 2000 in GT, crossing the finish line first in the Dick Barbour Racing 911 GT3-R (the car was later disqualified for having an out-of-spec fuel cell). Fast, fast, fast!

Bernhard - 2001 Porsche Carrera Cup champion, 2nd in GT at Sebring in 2001, GT winner at the 2002 24 Hours of Daytona with The Racer's Group. ...all of 21 years old. Damn!

Buckler - GT winner at the 2002 24 Hours of Daytona, GT winner at the 2002 Grand American 400, a sure podium spot at last month's 12 Hours at Sebring if not for an unfortunate meeting between another of the TRG drivers and Dindo Capello in one of the Audis. Buckler's climb in motorsports was achieved the good old-fashioned way; he clawed his way to the top. ...PCA, SCCA, IMSA, Grand-AM, ALMS. He's proof that if you work harder than the person standing next to you, you'll be successful.

Anyway, I have a good feeling about this. John D. and Bill H., you guys hit the mother-lode this year.

Timo Bernhard in the #66 TRG Porsche, winning GT at Daytona in February...

Thanks Bob. It is unbelievable how great this has all been. John D told me in January that this was the team for 2002 and was he ever right about that. But then he is about most things

Thanks for the support and great pictures. Your poster design is awesome.

Kudos to all involved! ...and thanks for all the beautiful photos, Bob. Being a Rennlist member makes us all feel like we're actually part of the team.

The posters will be available in aprox 2 weeks. Bob is supposed to receive the proofs next week then the posters follow a week later.

John D will be offering them through Rennlist for everyone.

We will be doing another Poster for Le Mans which we hope to have available in July.

Hey Bill and John,

What about doing a special Le Mans poster and charging more than normal (like $50) and hopefully the proceeds could go directly to the 24 hrs. effort?

I like that idea. I'll take one.

Or two.

I certainly would support that thought and will run it by John D for his thoughts. We have the Daytona Poster comng out in 2 weeks and are hoping to sell all 2,000 of those to help us with the cost of the Sponsorship even in a small way. We are planning a Le Mans Poster but that will be after the race in June. Maybe we could do a pre sale for that poster.

Thanks for the idea and support.

Just don't forget to mention my name in the victory interviews from the rostrum in Frnace.

You could probably sell them out no problem.

Best of luck to Kevin and the Le Mans effort. I can remember him from a few years ago at our local autocrosses before he started club racing. Kind of amazing to think that one day you're chasing cones in a parking lot with someone and the next thing you know, they are competing on a world class level.
