We had the same issue in those turns driving a stock gearbox 968. We eventually found that carrying more entry speed on a smooth and precise line allowed 3rd gear to work better. Even though it felt a little slower an analysis of the data showed that 3rd was a bit faster. In traffic we would still need to drop down to 2nd. I have no idea if what we found might apply to your 993.

No need to be embarrased. You usually see a fist pump on my videos when I turn a personal best time.

Very nice lap! A paucity of braking and you really carry your momentum, especially through 11-12 and 14! I like the quick downshift in the middle of 17. Doesn't everyone do that?

I think pretty much the same applies to 993s. That's why I often take those turns in 3rd. I just have to increase speed to make it work!

Paucity? I had to look up what it means...
Thanks for the comments, I used to take 14 more outside and turn in later but Fishman tipped me to turn in earlier and not go out so much, work really well.

T17, I start to brake around the time I start to turn but I do it very lightly and then brake more when I'm in the turn. With my about 135 mph top speed at the end of the back straight, you don't need to brake so much!

Nice lap !! I wish I was going again this year. D class will be up for grabs I guess. I did a 2:26.55 last year in my D class US Cup. Of coarse it was pretty cool out that day which helps a bit. Sebring really flows well when you hit it just right and maximize all those corners. I like the late trail braking into 1 and 17. That's where the big time gains always came for me and the real speed secret out there.

I liked the T17 part . I imagine you are faster than 120 at the end of the front straight. Great lap, can't wait till 48 hours DE here in a few weeks. Seat time here I come!

Jim, Can you receive big (19 MB) e-mails? I can e-mail it to you if you can.

Carreracup21, I agree, Sebring definitely is sweet and those turns are where the big gains (or losses) come, I feel T1 still has quite a bit left there for me.

Andrew, I guess it could be 125-130? I've looked at the end of the back straight and I end up around 135 mph there. I'll check it next time.

Thanks guys.

As a newcommer to DE's I'd love to see this video. I tried to download it but I get a message saying I need to install some necessary Quick Time components. It takes me to a page with like 10 aftermarket Quicktime plug in's but does not say which one I need. I have Quick Time on my Dell and Window Media 10 too and usually never have any problems viewing video's on the internet. Any idea's?
Thanks, Mike

I'm experimenting with some new video editing software.
(Anyone have a copy of Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 they'd care to "share"? )
I re-rendered the clip in MPEG format and with a little better resolution. You can download the 55mb clip from the Gold Coast Region website using this link:
