Roebling Road Club Race/Florida Crown Region
Florida Crown Region did a great job hosting the Roebling Road Club Race last weekend. Thanks to all the people who worked hard to make it happen.
The weather was great, the track is a ball to drive and I got to meet some southern Rennlisters!
I do have one question. How can a track with no plumbing or running water have the most sophisticated scale and exhaust sound computer in the country?
Anyway I had a ball!

No running water or plumbing??? Was that you I saw walking out of the woods with the roll of TP?
The story is that they just bought a new sound meter that was a lot more sensitive than the old one. I have never seen so many people flagged for noise in all the times I was there. Cars that had run there in the past were getting flagged left and right for noise violations. Seems as if they had adjusted it a bit by Sunday, otherwise they would have had to throw out a lot of the drivers/cars. It was odd b/c cars that read low at other tracks were reading very high.
It was nice to meet you at the track. Hope to see you again sometime.

Ditto.
I was told the reason I ran 98db Friday, then 101-104 on Saturday was the wind. Saturday afternoon it was dead calm and the noise was much louder.

Hey Greg, You missed a great event. I practiced for 2 days and could only sqeek out a 1:24... Then we had the fun race. I was 14th on the grid, had a great start, got to 8th and was black flagged for noise 104.6. So I went to Home Depot and bought 2 kitchen sink drain assy's. Drilled them full of holes and slid them inside my Fabspeeds. The next morning I qualified 1:22..., 8th in the group and 3rd in C. The 1 & 2 C cars were red hot. Jerry Bussey "real" RS & Alan Friedman 924GTS. Those cars were consistant at 1:21.1-7 . The Kelly Moss tech guys seemed to think the car benefitted from the back pressure.
The race I had another C car and a D car get by me before turn one. They stretched the lead after about a dozen laps or so and I was in no mans land. A few laps later around turn 7 the C car spun and I got back 3rd
Thats the way we finished, 9th overall and 3rd in C. Very few incidents just good clean fun.

I have stock to the cats and Fabspeed with no incerts (sink drains). The noise meter was 3/4 way down the front straight... 135mph @ 6500 ish and I hit 104.6 on a calm afternoon. The limit is 104.

Enjoyed visiting with you both at this weekend's club race at Roebling. Yes, the dB meter did give us some gas. If there was an award for innovation this weekend I think you would have won hands down! I hope you got some shots of your custom baffles. Maybe Home Depot or American Standard will come off some sponsorship for you! Looking forward to seeing you at Sebring in February.

It was great to see such a good turn out considering the bad weather many of the racers had to go through to get there. Even though I wasn't racing (3 years to go <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> ) I still had fun. Team Open Air did excellent, bringing home a 3rd overall and 1st in *D* class in the Yellow Group, a 4th in *GT-5S* also in Yellow Group and a 4th in class in *GT-3S*. Way to go everyone....!! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

I wanted to say thanks as well. I think Dave Rodenroth and crew did a wonderful job.
I had a great time racing in the yellow group. There were alot of real nice looking GTC1 cars out with us. Everyone (most everyone), raced fair and without incident.
Looking forward to Sebring.

Hey Bill;
You forgot to mention the class D "Horse Fly" you had trouble getting rid of! But, other than the noise irritation, the ice in the water buckets and the unkown stress of three practice starts, it was a successful outing for this Club Racing Rookie. First test passed, now on to the wilds of central Florida and the old airport!

You were "hooked up" late in the race. If it had been an enduro you would have caught the Cup cars!
About 5 or so laps into the race I checked my mirrors going into turn one and not a car in sight. All I had to concentrate on was the 7 or 8 cars in front of me. By the time I hit turn 10 there you were about 4 seconds back.
See you at Sebring!

Whats the schedule with Sebring? Looks like 1 TT day then Sat/Sun Race practice/qualify/race/enduro. So Friday, Sat, Sunday. Is that right? The Inn at the track, is that a good place to stay?
