That's what I thought you meant. Bars below teh steering column make me cringe in general.

As for the right hand net mount I've seen about 3 million different ways of attaching them. The slickest I've seen were in MX-5 cup cars where they ran the net through the CD slot in the radio back to the firewall.

The nice Kirkey seats (and Butler) are built really strong. 1 inch square tubing and all that jazz. MUCH better than their lower priced aluminum seats.

The NASCAR guys use the same bead seat kits that I sell as well.

Here's a quick article on them from ESPN.

Yes, that's pretty much what mine looks like too. Except, I don't have that ballroom globe hanging from my cage.

Brant,

Can you post a picture that shows the bracket better (this one is too dark to see the bracket). Did you have to remove the dash to instal the bracket? My mechanic is talking about similar type of set up, but I cannot visualize how he intends to a place it.

TIA

regarding the knee bar, it's a catch-22 because ideally you want it as low as possible to shore up the a-pillar/door bar node and provide lateral support for the a-pillar tube so the side of the car doesn't collapse in on the foot box. the higher it goes the less effective it is in my mind. I would also expect the window sill area to be pretty strong because there's the sill panel, top of the bulkhead, and trunk floor (in a 911) junction running lengthwise across the car. certainly you don't want the driver hitting the knee bar it but it can be up and away, be well padded and still be under the steering column providing support to the a-pillar.

regarding the kirkey halo seats, they are not even close to the seats the NASCAR guys use. the $1k kirkey halo is a great seat but don't think you're getting a 200 mph circle track seat. those are far more expensive and meet a much higher crash standard. also, the aluminum halo seats need to be cage mounted in the seat back, head rest, and halo extensions. it's a pretty involved installation.

Nader, unfortunately those are the only pics I have currently...I will be digging the car out of storage in a few weeks and i'll get some pic's asap...The net was insatlled at Steinel's and when I saw it they had the center vent fixture pulled out. The net ends up attached to a "loop bolt" directly behind the venting...There was some cutting and drilling involved I believe...The one that I did (on another 944 Cup car) we used another method...We drilled the dash from the top and put a harness attachment bolt through the metal part of the dash pad...it does not look as nice of course but it is very solid.

My new cage has a behind the dash bar and I had him weld a tab on it for a side net. I'll try to get a pic. Brant, did you cut the diamond plate for your floor or buy it somewhere?

Hi Arkadi!

I had an old trailer tongue mounted tool box and I used the diamond plate from it. Used a sawzall and cut it to size!
