Can I use a 924/931 base tub to build a 944 type track only car ? I would put fiberglass fenders & quarter panels anyways.. but are the tubs just as good ? will a 944 engine fit in & mate to torque tube & tranny ?
Thx.

Yeah, I think so... only possible question would be engine mounts, but I think it'd be manageable. Suspension and tranny would all bolt up.
Make sure to get a 924 tub from 78-onward - more reinforcement than the early cars, not to mention rear suspension attachment was different on the early cars. Watch out for battery box rust!!!
You might be better off with a 924/931 tub, might be lighter to start off with - I'm not sure. Might be a relatively small difference, and could even be in parts that will come off (like AC, fenders) when you do your conversion.
931 (81-82) torque tube and tranny are interchangeable with 944 parts, except perhaps the front bellhousing. 924 parts would not be up to the job, likely, due to smaller shaft sizes.
