I think NASA is really on to something with a dyno at the event. That really protects the legitimacy of an race where engines are supposed to run in a certain power envelope. It also protects the winners from being wrongfully accused of cheating. Nothing hurts worse than driving well and winning a hard fought race, only to have your competitors make whispers or even open cheating accusations against you. That is really a cold slap in the face and spoils the fun of racing. When you win in the PCA stock classes you pretty much have to get used to it.

I think it would be easily cheated. Swtichable maps on an ECU could affect HP readings. Is there a way they can make sure that doesn't happen?

I was discussing this with someone just this weekend. His suggestion was to require everyone in stock class to run pump gas only. Simply take fuel samples when the top three come off track. I understand it is very easy and quick to check octane. If compression is stock, engines should be fine on pump gas, correct? Comments?

Thanks for the clarification.

I have used 100 in my car for race with the rational that if the knock sensor does not detect knocks, then fuel continues to get dumpoed in. I consider this the vitamin theory. I have no evidence that it help, but it does not hurt (I hope) to try.
Actually, I am have been thinking about soem Dyno runs back to back with 93 and 100 gas and stock header and then do the same after installing the new header.

I will say in NASA I have never had a slower class "pull" me down the straight. Now I know corner off speed is important but the difference in performance would allow me to catch a slower class car by the end of the straight (in NASA). I have had G cars in PCA pull me down the straight. Maybe the classes or the individual car was very close to F???
