Congrats on the twins!!! I bet you will be sidelined from the track for a little while. Hopefully not long.

We had a good time at sebring this weekend and I was actually able to get my wife into the car for a session. A friend convinced her to try it. She was a trooper and hung in there for the whole session. I thought she was frozen in fear as she hardly made a movement the whole time. We worked out some hand signals to go faster, slower or come in but she never used them. Afterwards she said she couldn't beleive the car stayed on the track at a couple of places (exit at turn 1 and at 17) and she wasn't a fan of the braking for the hairpin.

here's a video link of us at youtube.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyvhJIRxEGI
(my 6 year old son did the video so the quality is not the best)

Darren,

You were in a yellow group, right?

I was helping out one guy in his red 964 race car (number 63) who is fairly new and wants to go racing and we witnessed you blewing the doors off of us! I had to point out to him couple of times that there's that blue car behind us again!

It was great to watch and listen.

Me dumbass didn't noticed that, it would've saved some time from me "copy pasting". OK, I did add some times that were interesting to me (i.e. non RS or RSCS 993 times) so I guess it wasn't all waste.

Thanks for the link!

It is good to look at the regular results to compare cars. The non 944 Turbo Cup record is Bill Martin's 2:26.553 in his USA Cup ('44 turbo cups are really not well classed in D). So that should be your goal in your 993 .

Colin,

I saw that and that is my goal. How the hell I'm gonna get there is beyond me though. Well, it's only about 3 seconds off... 1-2 sec. actually seems realistic for me and my car when I'm looking back my driving last weekend but beyond that, lot of seat time I think since I've driven only few times there and I feel there's ton for me to learn.

Darren,

Yes, I stayed for Sunday also. Ggeat day & schedule. I actually skipped the last session so that I could drive my car home and be there before the evening thunderstorms arrived (it was not fun to drive with Kumhos when it was pouring down..).

If you think about it, there are 17 turns so all you need to do is gain .2 seconds per turn!! Sounds easy, doesn't it?

I hear ya. I ran a 2:27.7 at the race this year, and did not feel like I was leaving much on the table. Bill getting down to the 2:26s was very stout.

Petu - send me your mini-dv tape and I'll burn that lap to DVD and create an .MPG movie for Rennlist bragging rights!

P.S. My fastest lap in "The Ungrateful Bitch" is 2:38!

Finn,

Just saw this thread...I was also at Sebring this past weekend. I think I may have been parked right next to you (black 968 on your left, red 964 on your right). I also think I have some video of you passing me on one of those hot laps. Check this video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...83076147&hl=en
and see if this is you passing me between 6 and 7. Nice driving, nice (and fast) car.

Terry, DVD is on it's way.

Mike,

Yes, we were parked next to each other (BTW, it was Saturday's guy who was in your pit and left those nutshells there!).

That is me passing you (and missing the apex! ) but your link wasn't the correct one, this is.

Good videos, thanks for sharing. Our lines are very similar BTW.
See you next time!

Petu,

Congrats on exceeding your goal. I was talking to someone last night about this sport, and I said that, at most tracks, it is "relatively" easy to get within 2-5 seconds of the really fast guys once you master the basics, but the true "essence" of the sport lies in those last few seconds.

I hope to get down there sometime.

TD
