Default Finally it's official: Kovalainen Renault driver next year.

If you don't know who he is, he's the young guy who beat everyone (including Schumi in Ferrari 360, Lieb in Rally car...) in the race of champions.

Keep your eye on him next year, he's pretty damn good.

And now we have 2.5 Finns in F1 (Nico is only half Finn), Heikki in Renault, Kimi in Ferrari and Nico in Williams so there should be plenty to cheer for us Finns!

How old is he?
If I'm not mistaken he was in his early 20's.
Flavio is very good at spotting talent. I'm not suprised he picked him up.

"Kovalainen"?

Are you sure that's Finnish, and not Irish?

I'm still waiting for an announcement at Monza regarding Schumi's "decision".
Personally, I'm hoping for Schumi and Kimi as teammates....we haven't seen something like that in years......

Stuttgart,

25 next month.

Mike,

Sure Kovalainen is Finn. I mean if you don't see the pattern in Kovalainen, Hakkinen, Raikkonen, Makinen, Kankkunen etc. names, I don't know what will tell you he's Finn.
Oh wait! I do know what will tell you he's Finn: check his lap times...

ltc,

Keep your ears and eyes open this Sunday after Monza's race...

Not only is he a Finn he is a happy Finn. I've seen more smiles from Kovalainen in two interviews then in 5 years from the likes of Kimi and Mika (both Mika's although Salo is better).

If it wasn't for Marcus Gronholm I would have thought that the Finns are the most stoic people in the world. Ok, I still think that....

Finland sure produces some fast drivers but when it comes to animated personalities well..... they are fast drivers.

But I like Marcus for his dry (really dry) sense of humor that you occasionally saw in Mika H. but never in Kimi. At least not in English. Kovalainen will make a great interview - I'm happy that he got the ride as he is a real talent.

Shumi and Kimi at Ferrari would be like Prost/Senna at McLaren.. good times!Bring it on! A little ego.. a little temperment.. likely take each other out.. can't wait!

But your name isn't "Flying Finninen"... does that mean you're not a real Finn?

You mean regarding Schumi?

I've had sure information Kimi going to Ferrari for weeks (it will be official on Sunday) but not sure info regarding Schumi's retirement. And after reading that article, I still don't have real informatim whether MS retires or not although now, reading between the lines, I believe he will.

Quick Reply: Finally it's official: Kovalainen Renault driver next year.
