Default Will the Harness Bar Help Chassis/Handling?

In expectation of my harnesses showing up I finally installed my Harness Bar. Do you think it will help the chassis and handling of my car? It might be my imagination but the chassis seems more rigid. What are your thoughts/experiences?

Imagination.

I sometime imagine I'm turning faster laps, but my lap timer disagrees.

No. A roll bar with harness tabs may help. I had one in my Miata that made it noticeably stiffer, but I don't know if it improved track times.

It certainly won't hurt chassis rigidity, but I don't think you'd see any kind of a measurable difference with it. In fact, I'd guess that there's no possible scenario in which it would make a difference in lap times or handling.

The 'placebo effect' is a powerful thing, though. Almost no one puts in a strut tower brace and doesn't think there's an immediate difference in the way the car feels (present company included). Is it really making a difference? I don't know -- but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any drivers who could see the gaps changing on either side of their hoods before their strut brace was installed.

It should help hold you in place when used with a good 5 or 6 point system. This might allow you to feel the car action and drive better. Seat of pants. It should also allow you to not have to brace and grip the wheel as hard and provide you more use of fine motor control.
Roll bars do little as well as the best they can do is stiffen an area that is not in great cross flex front to back. Kind of like firming up across the middle of a cookie sheet. Flex free in the center but the corners still move end to end. A cage, OTOH, when put in well and tied in will.

I think Kurt explained it best. The addition of the harness/seat/bar system will improve your lap times. ie: improve your driving skill by making you part of the car and not a passenger.
