Wasn't he complaining about getting hung up trying to exit the car?

I was thinking the same thing! He said he though he was covered in fuel and he WAS hung up on his HANS device. He said that he could not get free of the car as the HANS was stuck on something, was smelling fuel and felt something wet on him. Don't need to ask him, he already spoke. That is a **** the pants moment for a racer.

His HANS was stuck in his window net. He was unable to release the window net quickly.

They told him to get back into the car (he was half way out and stuck) during a moment of major sphincter alarm.

The problem is most saftey equipment is designed to keep you in place so when you need to make a quick exit, you are trapped. I'm sure the pro's practice exit techniques (or I hope they do), but when it hits the fan, all bets are off.

I have practiced emergency exits with my eyes closed probably 25 or 30 times, to simulate smoke/fire/panic/etc.

Proper previousl planning prevents ****-poor performance!

Practice is great if you know you will react the same in an emergency as sitting in a parked car. Problem is very few people know what they will do. Most all know what they think the will do. I like the idea of pulling two small pins and getting out of Dodge sans a CF cow catcher.
