Toyo RA-1s on nationwide backorder?!
Heard today from my dealer not to expect to see any 275/35ZR18 tires for some time. They are not hearing any dates from Toyo and have more than 20 tires on order.
I need a streetable (drive to/from track 250 miles) tire good for DEs, and the RA-1s were very nice. Lots left on the front tires, too.
If I cannot get rears in time, though, I'm thinking Pirelli Corsa System or MPSCs.... I knew I should have bought a second set of rear tires!

Chris, that's the problem with Toyo's. they are good tires, but if supply runs low, you have to wait for the next container ship to arrive from Japan. How much longer do you think that the rears will last?
where have you tried for the Toyo's? I'm assuming CJ's. I know that Tire Rack doesn't carry Toyo, but how about Sports Car Tire in Delaware? They carry Toyo's.
As for the MPSC's, I've used them this year but not on the street. They don't have a good reputation for use in the rain, though. I do like them for the dry. I can't comment on street longevity as I've not used them on the street.

That's the same size as some of the World Challenge GT front tires, maybe you could call Bob Vilven. I heard the WC tires might be a different compound from the street tires but I don't know for sure.

racetire.com does not stock the 18's and they repeat what everyone says about Toyo being OUT of stock. The fellow at racetire did, however, suggest Vilven also and they have them in stock and two are coming to me! Thanks Kurt and mrbillfll!
