Be sure to get all of the fiberglass detritus out after you drill, that stuff is itchy.

Did both helmets myself--measure 4 times, drill once. Cake walk.

my new helmet (impact) has bosses where the anchors go, with a dimple in the middle to start the drill in. No measuring required.

A thin wrench would help though. You might find one at a bike shop. We used to call them "cone wrenches" back before bikes all used sealed bearings

My HANS came with the thin wrench. Have they stopped sending them with the device?

the shop (OG Racing) put my HANS anchors on my old helmet. Maybe they kept the thin wrench? at any rate I didn't get one.
