Default Toyo RA-1 heat cycles

I've been following the threads on the Toyo wear rates but maybe not closely enough. The NASA weekend coming up July 7th at Mid-Ohio now has three races that weekend.

Query, if wear is pretty even and I have the tires flipped, will I make it thru the weekend on tires that have 18 heat cycles already? Figure 7 more heat cycles. Seems I am pushing it huh?

Oh, the reason I ask is that the Hoosiers I have on my other sets of wheels are rains and RS05's that show some hairline cracks on the sidewalls. So basically, I have no back-up unless I order some new tires.

I'd say you have a very good chance of making it through the weekend on the Toyos. If it was me however, I'd want some sort of backup. If you're not comfortable running the Hoosier RS05's, then you might as well put a new set of tires on those wheels. You'll need a new set sooner or later anyway.

I have the NASA thing, the OVR PCA Putnam races the next weekend and a Mid-Ohio Region DE at Putnam the third weekend.

I ordered a set. I was going to try to wait to use the Meisterschaft used tires I ordered but I can't get them before the NASA event. Not having a back up makes me nervous.

Are you going to any of the above events?

Yup. I'll be at the NASA Mid Ohio race, and the OVR PCA Putnam race the week after. Two weekends in a row is all I can get away with!

John:

Have you tried the scrubbed RA-1's from Meisterschaft before? I was thinking of a set from them as well. Are you staying at the track or a hotel?

John, I have a set of P Corsas mounted which I might be able to get to the track. Used one weekend. They make a decent rain tire too.

No, i haven't. I ordered a set of the scrubbed Hoosiers. They don't have the Toyos in the rear size I need.

Alan,
You run 18's don't you? I have three sets of 17 inch wheels.
