24 Hr Le Mans Panoz wins GT2?
#16
The GT2 class was a lot more exciting than last year.
The new Ferrari F430 GTC will prove tough for 911s to beat. Risi Competizione will have a second F430 at Lime Rock. The drivers are TBA.
I was suprised that one of the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-Rs was running in the top three for so long.
Team LNT's Panoz did finish 2nd in the 1,000 km of Spa last month.

p.s. a factory Corvette C6-R won GT1, but a privateer C5-R run by a team (Luc Alphand Adventures) that ran a 911 last year at Le Mans finished 3rd in GT1.

Did you read the car specs in GT2? We discussed GT3RSR HP to nauseum some time ago and the car specs were from 440-480 @ RL7600-8600, huge spread.
Fortunately we will have Lea Keen there next year. Co drivers....? Cory F, Chris B and Rick DeMan.
Panoz people must be back flippin in the streets.

I'm also a Porsche fan, but sitting on the edge of my seat to see which Porsche team wins is not exciting... I want to see some more competitive cars in GT2... Ferrari particularly... and THEN see Porsche win... now thats fun..
BTW it would not surprise me if Audi spent $100M on their P1 Program... maybe more...

Next year the 997 GT3RS(R?) will be out I think, then Porsche should be able to win GT2 unless they get choked down with regulations... They will need Chris Brown to help drive Leh's vintage HSR eligible RS to the win
Hey Bill are you going to post the videos?

Mike,
Yes, I will post the crash video and your spin but I have not copied it yet. I have been in therapy since I watched the film Saturday.
Leh Keens car is not HSR eligable, Chris B's 2002 is HSR eligable.

For the extra two ounces of weight, why would the drivers not have had a cell phone in the car to at least call if they were stranded. I'm assuming they could have talked them through getting it back in gear a little quicker.
AAA is slow in France but it would have been quicker than the painful wait the Farnbacher car had.

I don't think you would want to take off your helmet on track to have a cell phone conversation. Now if your radio inputs were compatible with cell phone jacks then that would work.

hell I can't keep up with my own race bills. We need to get you a HUGE sponsor for next year. Maybe REDBULL... they like GT racing

Sounds like a good niche market. Forget these expensive track radios for club racing, use a cell phone wired into the helmet.

Is Multimatic a full-factory team or a factory-supported team? Neither teams get money when they finish an ALMS race.
