Anyone experience the Oakly shoes, are these similar to the Piloti's? Have a pair of Simpson's but am thinking of more support.

I have used a pair of Oakleys for 7 track days so far this year. Very comfortable around the pits, no issues in the car, but they are not thin-soled race shoes. If you are looking for support, then you should give Oakleys a try.

They definitely are a step up from a Piloti, unless you are a Ferrari owner, and if you are a Ferrari owner, then to be PC you will need to wear your Pilotis and have your "Ferrari niece" on your arm.

I'm not crazy about my Oakleys.

I find that the heels are formed in too much of a square shape and that the corners (back of the heel) can hang up on the floor of my SRF, preventing whatever quick move I'm trying to make (typically, gas to brake).

I never had any such problem with my old Sparcos.

Please get the low tops. Unless you're a professional it just looks ridiculous IMHO

Low tops may look better but high-tops will offer better protection around your ankle and lower shin area, especially when your pants over lap with the boot upper.

I like the G Force shoes. Grippy sole, very comfortable for my wide feet.

I tried Simspsons a few years ago but thought the rubber of the sole was too hard and slippery.

I went from Simpsons to the high-top G Force shoes also. Very comfortable , and who gives a RA what anyone thinks about looks?

I have had both low and high tops. The high tops for me, were much more comfortable, better ankle protection, and offered dramatically more support without restriction or binding. However, everyone's feet are different, I think it is pretty clear you need to try on a variety of shoes and pick what works best for you.

I've been racing for 9 years, I've had a couple of pairs of racing shoes, but they weren't very comfortable on my EEEE feet, so now I use some almost worn out Hi-tech climbing approach shoes that I got at the Hi-tech outlet near Yosemite several years ago. The worn soles give me a great feel, the semi- climbing rubber formula has great grip, they're light, and they were $20.00.
But they REALLY don't match my driving suit. Well, judge my on the track, not in the pits.
