Any idea what if any track has a straight that is 4400 feet long? I can't really imagine covering almost 1 mile flat out and then standing on the brakes. "Heart pounding" is right.

VIR has the longest straights that i run on each year, back straight is listed at 4000 feet, front at 3000 feet.

How long is the T7-T10 (?) run at Road Atlanta? A few wiggles and hills sure, but it's all throttle.

The back straight at VIR on an incline and coming out of the slowest corner on the course at Oak Tree. Road America's front straight is really long but it has a huge uphill section.

Bull, what speeds are you pulling down in the 993 at the end of the back straight at VIR? I can't remember. I think my fastest top speed was at Watkins Glen at 140. I doubt I hit that at Road America and I know I don't at VIR or Mid Ohio.

If the turn before the straight on this new track is like keyhole at Mid-Ohio, this new track has to top 140 easy assuming it's not uphill.

Anyone remember how long the front straight at Bridgehampton was? Seems longer than any other I've been on since, including VIR. It had uphill grade too. Turning down the hill was always exciting.

Default Longest straight?

Brainerd International Raceway in MN has a 4,700ft. The turn preceding the straight is roughly 90 degrees and typically exited at the top of 3rd gear or just into 4th.

Only place I've gone any faster (on a track) is the tri-oval at Daytona.

Shameless plug for the August 5-6 Club Race.

Fun track, great event, great people.

I recall it was always considered long. Here's a pic, no scale, unfortunately:

"All who have raced there know that the earth is flat and ends in the sand at turn two. The emotional rewards of driving this turn 'flat out' are just as intense as the physical consequences of blowing it". - Bruce MacInnes, Chief Instructor, Skip Barber Racing School

RIP, Bridgehampton!

In the 140 area at VIR. I believe the only place faster for me is when we run the partial bowl at Pocono clockwise; back straight, bankning, then front straight.

The longest straight I have ever seen was years ago at Riverside, which was over 1 mile. Unfortunately, the top speed of my car was in the 140s at that time.

Come on... This has to be a joke... "Thousand Suns"!!??!! You gotta be kidding. All that's missing is "We will specialize in Enduros and Night Racing, as there will be no need for headlights..."

Take at look at the Brainerd Page on Trackpedia. We have telemetry showing cornering speeds, straight speeds in a 996 C2, an M3 and a 350Z.

This is great new for those of us in the Atlanta area. Now in addition to Road Atlanta, Barber, Roebling and Carolina Motorsport Park we have a fifth road course within a 4 hour drive of town!

Reynard38 Nashville Superspeedway is have a SCCA double regional over Labor Day. If you want to call Nashville Superspeedways road course a road course.

About Thousand Suns, I will believe it when I see it. It kinda looks like a mini Nurmburgring with a mini Mulsanne Straight. (I'm sure I spelled Mulsanne wrong.)
