Actually, if you knew the details, chances are you'd say MickeyD's had it comming to them. IIRC they could have be totally off the hook for something like $10k or less. The reason the jury jacked up the award is punitive (I'm 99$ certain whether it was official or not). The treatment this lady received and the multiple attempts by her to settle were rebuffed in the worst way and the jury sent a message.
