Of course I also once read that to a billionaire, buying a Maybach Mercedes is the equivalent of the average Joe buying a $16 shirt. There is some general perspective.

GS seats range from $7,500 to $15,000 per race. You can usually get a bit of a discount committing to multiple races. Additionally there is typically a security deposit of some amount to cover any initial damage repairs. ST seats are a little less, $5,000 to $12,500 in a competitive car with a competitive team. Don't expect a competitive car or team at the lower end of those price ranges, they may exist but they are the exception, not the rule.
GT seats are well over that with a competitive team.
Payout in Grand-Am Cup is based on a percentage of entry fees. If entry fees total $50,000 for the GS class, the purse will be $25,000 split between the top 10. Same for ST. Rolex series purses are set by the promotor and vary marginally from event to event and pay deeper into the field typically.
