Default What are the most famous turns in road course racing?

If you were to come up w/ a list of the most famous track turns, what would that list consist of? What makes the turn so memorable?Any track in the world.

Thanks,

In the US, I'd say the king is the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

In the world it's probably Eau Rouge at Spa.

I counter with the Karusell on the Nordschleife.

In the U.S., corkscrew at Laguna. I'd like to try it some day in person (have many times in video games... )

I agree. Have driven the first, but only looked at the second.

As far as tracks that I have driven, both 2 and 4 at Mosport will pucker you up (very fast blind entry, downhill, off camber) but if you do it right your smile is a mile wide I also enjoy 10 at the Glen as it is very fast, 11 at Mid O, very challenging to get it right. The climbing esses and roller coaster at VIR are a hoot. I have not driven them but two others have to be 130R at Suzuka and the toughest corner in the world: Eau Rouge

The bridge at 12 (Road Atlanta), the back straight had it before they changed it.

the uphill at SPA! Laguna offers so many, corkscrew being the most famous. T9 at Laguna is rather exciting for many open wheel car drivers. Very fast and high lat G loading.

T1 at Mid-Ohio--flat and inviting The kink at RA, also T1 at RA.

Amongst those I've driven, I'll also throw in Turn 7 at Riverside......... downhill, off-camber, at the end of the 1.1 mile straight.

If we can count tracks that no longer exist, how about Turn 1 ("the Bridge") at Bridgehampton?

One day, someday, I'll try the corkscrew at Mazda Laguna Seca. Any votes for turn 7, Madness, at Mid-Ohio? How about the toe of the boot, Watkins Glen? Dunno about world famous, but those are my two favorites.

Another vote for the Corkscrew.

Just did the 3 day Skippy school at Laguna Seca (going back for the 2 day adv race school in Nov) in just about every kind of weather possible (sunny/dry, cloudy/damp, torrential downpours), the Corkscrew was an experience in all the different conditions.....and the rest of the track was no slouch either.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend Laguna Seca ....the elevation changes are impressive and memorable.

How about the high speed back side of Sears Point before the changes a few years ago?

Limited tracks that I've been on, but...

"The Kink" at Road America is pretty famous (or infamous, depending on your personal experience there)
